“Huxley was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome in 2017. He has underwent a series of three open heart surgeries to help supply his body with oxygen and blood flow throughout his body. His first surgery was at 6 days old, his second at 6 months old and his final planned open heart surgery he was almost 3 years old. There is no cure for HLHS. We had first heard about Make-A-Wish Iowa from his Cardiologist at his yearly appointment in 2023. It was very overwhelming for me as a parent to think about having my sons wish granted, it made me very emotional."
"Huxley's wish was to visit Walt Disney World, swim with dolphins, and see Star Wars Characters. We prepared by watching a ton of views of rides at each park and what kind of things he would enjoy doing at each park. I also joined Disney Make-A-Wish groups on Facebook. Asked questions, and followed their tips. There is truly only one way to describe our wish experience, PERFECT! Huxley's favorite part about his wish was swimming with then dolphins, riding all the rides, and seeing all the neat star wars stuff. The experience made a huge impact on our family. It was a great time. We had so much fun, and it was so wonderful to be able to go and relax together. Forget about the stress of life and just enjoy our time away.”
