Our wish was a handicap accessible golf cart. We live in a community where golf carts and side by sides are used a lot, we can even scoot over to Hank’s grandparents house super easy on one. Hank loves to be on anything with a motor or having wind in his face! We didn’t have to do a ton to prepare, Make-A-Wish Iowa did all the heavy lifting and told us when to expect it. Our wish experience has been absolutely amazing, the golf cart has exceeded all of our expectations, Hank LOVES it- the whole family does. It’s an amazing way to bond with Hank and enjoy family time. He loves to ride down the road to see the horses that are near by. We can’t thank Make-A-Wish enough for this entire experience!
This experience impacted us in ways we didn’t even think about! Hank enjoys being outside and this golf cart makes it so easy for us to get from point A to Point B while having wind in our face. It’s easier to get him in and out than our vehicles. We can also trailer the Golf Cart to some of our favorite places and that gives us the ability to drive him around that were normally hard to push Hank around in his wheelchair. This is just a HUGE deal for our family and he absolutely loves it. We all do! We’ve made evening golf cart rides a part of our nightly routine now. Every time I look at Hank’s face he just has a huge smile while on his golf cart!
Supporting Make-A-Wish Iowa gives families like mine the opportunity to do things for our medically complex children that we normally couldn’t do/don’t have the resources for. They make an extremely huge impact on our children’s lives and give them amazing opportunities to bring some normalcy and fun to their lives. We simply cannot thank Make-A-Wish Iowa enough for all they do, especially for the impact they’ve made in our little boy’s life!
